Damiana (Turnera Ulmifolia/Ramgoat Dashalong))

Damiana Tunera Ulmifolia, also known as Ramgoat Dashalong, is a small shrub that is native to tropical regions of the Americas. Like Damiana (Turnera diffusa), it has a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine for its medicinal properties. It's an adaptogen, slightly euphoric, and the leaves have a calming on the nervous system, and may help to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It is also traditionally used as a natural aphrodisiac, and is said to enhance libido and performance. The plant is also sometimes smoked or brewed as a tea for its mood-enhancing effects.

• Climate: Damiana thrives in warm, humid environments and is typically grown in tropical or subtropical regions. It can be grown in USDA Hardiness Zones 9 to 11. Lower zones will need to bring the plant indoors during the fall and winter.

• Soil: Damiana prefers well-draining, sandy soil that is rich in organic matter. It does not tolerate waterlogged soil or standing water.

• Light: Damiana requires full sun to partial shade. It can grow in areas with dappled shade, but it will not thrive in full shade.

• Water: Damiana requires moderate watering. It prefers consistently moist soil, but it should not be watered to the point of saturation.

• Fertilizer: Damiana does not require heavy fertilization. A light application of balanced fertilizer in the spring can help to promote healthy growth.

• Maintenance: Damiana requires minimal maintenance. It should be pruned in the spring to promote healthy growth and shape the plant.

• Soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours. This will help to soften the seed coat and improve germination rates.

• Fill a small pot or seed tray with a well-draining potting mix. The pot should have drainage holes to allow excess water to drain away.
